OSB Day 2026

St Beghians’ Day Reunion and ‘Live Music in the Quad’

Saturday 6th June 2026

An overcast but warm, blustery day welcomed to the school around fifty-three OSBs and guests, who had defied the wet weather previously forecast.

Following the Committee Meeting, at which Adrian Peckitt (FS 72-77), Jonathan Steele (FS 82-87), and Victoria Davies (L 94-99) became new members, the Annual General Meeting was then held in the Foundation, conducted by the President of the Society, Darryl Davies (FS 62-68). During the meeting the members were addressed by the Acting-Headmaster, Laurence Gribble (SH 02-09), who gave a detailed account of the present situation of the school and the links with Full Circle in China.

At the end of the meeting presentations were made to the Society’s tireless and much-esteemed Secretary, Pam Rumney, of a bouquet of flowers from the President and a decorated cake from ‘the Cambridge Gang’ wishing Pam a happy wedding anniversary.

The AGM was followed as usual by the Chapel service where it was pleasing to see the school’s boarding community in full attendance, and where lessons were read by our President and the head of the school students. We thank Frank Bowler (M 83-91) for standing-in at short notice to play the organ. The service itself was conducted by Rev. Canon Paul Maybury
(FS 72-77).

An excellent lunch in the Foundation followed, again attended by the school’s boarders, some of whom took part in the musical entertainments which followed, along with Victoria Davies and Maddie Charlton (Eliz. 22-24), all accompanied by the school’s Director of Music, Lee Shackley. In addition to the music, John Wilkinson (FS 68-73) had arranged for some OSBs to participate, along with several current students and staff, in what was a well attended Fives tournament later in the afternoon.

Events ended with cream teas being served in the Salad Room to round off a very enjoyable day dominated as ever by the convivial conversations which took place throughout.

A list of those who had indicated they would be attending on the day, along with apologies for absence, can be found here: Attendees and Apologies.

Photos from the day may be seen here: Morning and Lunch/Afternoon.
